ChipMOS TECHNOLOGIES (Bermuda) LTD. Remains Intact After Powerful Earthquake in Taiwan Hsinchu, Taiwan, April 1, 2002 - Taiwan was rocked on March 31 by a powerful earthquake registering 6.8 on the Richter scale. The quake took its most severe toll in downtown Taipei where some buildings were partially collapsed and some transportation infrastructure was damaged. The operations of ChipMOS TECHNOLOGIES (Bermuda) LTD. (Nasdaq: IMOS) ("ChipMOS/Bermuda") located in Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park, Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park and Kaohsiung Export Processing Zone remained intact after the quake.

Seismologists at the Central Weather Bureau located the epicenter at 44.3 kilometers offshore from Hualien City on the east coast of Taiwan. Hsinchu, where head office of ChipMOS/Bermuda is located and registered ~ 4.0 on the Richter scale yesterday afternoon, was reported no damage and injury.

After the quake, ChipMOS/Bermuda's emergency members took a thorough inspection throughout its facilities in Hsinchu, Tainan and Kaohsiung, and found no damage. All its facilities have been operating under a normal condition after the quake.
